Are you interested in learning how your school or agency can advocate for the policies and supports needed for teen parents to complete their high school education? 
Has your board of education developed a policy on education for pregnant and parenting students that is in accordance with federal and state laws? 
Do you want to share local initiatives, successes and barriers and develop a plan to ensure that pregnant and parenting students receive a solid education and graduate?

APPCNC invites you to attend one of the following Teen Parent Network Meetings.

Western Regional TPN Meeting:

Forum Highlights:

  • Review federal and state laws (Title IX and NC General Statute 115C-375.5) that protect the educational rights of pregnant and parenting students
  • Roundtable reviews of local education initiatives
  • Problem-solving work groups – all participants will walk away with an individualized plan of action
  • Ideas for state and local advocacy efforts
  • Tips on working effectively with policy-makers

Bring your experiences, share strategies that work, and develop action plans to expand educational opportunities for pregnant and parenting students in your community.

This six hour Forum will:

  • Increase knowledge of federal and state laws on education for pregnant and parenting students and how these laws protect students’ educational rights
  • Increase awareness of effective advocacy strategies that improve access to education for pregnant and parenting students.
  • Build capacity of participants to develop and implement education action plans
  • Learn strategies on working effectively with policy-makers
  • Expand networking opportunities for professionals

Cost:    $35 (includes lunch)
